Best Sushi in Halifax. We took a Japanese student to eat here and he was thoroughly impressed. He couldn\’t believe that the chef had learned his skills in Hong Kong. Very clean and friendly staff and best deal for sushi in Halifax.

We have been enjoying the wonderful food at Milamodo since it first opened. We have been huge fans and although we having traveled to many different countries, and eaten in many different restaurants, we find the best is right here in our own backyard. Our friends enjoy it too and we especially love to book ‘Chef’s Choice’ were Steve can work his magic. Course after course are brought in and they are always perfectly prepared and beautifully arranged. Despite his busy schedule Steve finds time to create beautiful carvings and make donations to people that are less fortunate. He and his family are a wonderful addition to the community of Clayton Park.

It is great to have a good Japanese restaurant in Clayton Park. We order from here every week and the food and service is consistently excellent. I give it four instead of five stars only because I have had even better fare in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Las Vegas (you heard me) and Fukushima. Milamodo, is the best places to eat Japanese in the city.

No, it’s not the sushi. And for me, that’s saying a lot. Those of you who know me in real life know that I love sushi. I’ve been hooked on a menu item that most people don’t even look at when visiting the umpteen million sushi restaurants that abound in the city of Halifax. I’m talking about the meal in a bowl: udon/soba noodles.

We’ve been hit with a pretty brutal winter and there’s nothing better for it than to sit down to a giant bowl of hearty soup. And the varieties are plenty. Up until recently my favourite was the vegetable tempura variety.

Best sushi restaurant in Halifax! Extremely fresh, served at just the right temperature. I recommend everything on the menu but my favourites are the spicy tuna rolls, salmon nigiri, california rolls, gyoza and agedashi tofu.

Worth the trip. I live in Dartmouth but this is my resturant of choice for sushi. Fantastic food made fresh. Friendly service. The prep chefs seem to really enjoy that you have a quality dining experience.

One night I got adventurous and tried out something even better: nabeyaki udon. And I’ve been on a kick ever since. Nabeyaki udon is basically a personal size Japanese hot-pot topped with tempura shrimp, an egg, and a variety of other ingredients. Every restaurant has their own concoction. My personal favourite is from Milamodo (because I love fried tofu) but Doraku and Sushi Shige make a pretty mean bowl of it, too.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything better to warm and fill you up on a cold winter’s day. And, as an additional bonus, your friends sitting across the table from you will envy you your gastronomical prowess. That, I can almost guarantee.
